On 26 June from 12pm-3pm, the Chequerboard area outside the Angel Centre will be transformed by international musicians, artists, games and stalls as One World Day comes to Tonbridge.
Hosted by Tonbridge Welcomes Refugees to mark national Refugee Week (which runs 20-26 June), this fun and friendly community event will be one for the whole family.
Local samba band Bloco Fogo will kick off proceedings at noon, and through the afternoon there will be live performances from musicians from Tanzania to Iraq. There will be activities for younger children, and informal talks from people with first-hand experience of the refugee crisis, including charity workers, journalists and refugees themselves. A number of local organisations working with refugees will be represented, including The Worldwide Tribe, RefugEase, Kent Kindness and Tunbridge Wells Welcomes Refugees.
Bring a picnic, bring friends, and celebrate the diversity of our world.
